Our History
Founded in 1974, HAVI began as a company focused on bringing greater efficiency and innovation to supply chain management. Over the decades, it expanded its capabilities across logistics, packaging, and marketing analytics. Today, HAVI has evolved into Morgan Street Holdings, a privately owned enterprise with a portfolio of operating companies, including the supply chain operations that still carry the HAVI name.
In 1974, Ted Perlman and Bob Rocque formed Perlman Rocque Distribution based on a handshake agreement with McDonald’s, supplying restaurants in the Chicago area. They established Perseco the next year, which quickly secured its first packaging order from McDonald’s.
By 1976, HAVI Corporation was formed, named after the founders’ wives, Harriette and Vivian. These foundational moves set the stage for future growth, establishing early expertise in packaging and distribution services.

In 1981, HAVI opened its first overseas office in Hong Kong, sparking a decade of expansion across Asia, Europe, and Latin America. In Germany, WLS GmbH launched to serve McDonald’s exclusively, and S.T.I. was founded in 1983 to support German distribution centers with pre-freight services.
In 1986, the founders sold HAVI to Staley-Continental but repurchased it two years later, renaming it The HAVI Group on 8-8-88. That same year, HAVI acquired M-B Sales (formerly Performance Concepts), which specialized in Happy Meal toy design and sourcing.

In 1990, McDonald’s selected HAVI to manage its U.S. Happy Meal promotions. This led to broader services in supply, demand planning, and marketing analytics, anchoring HAVI’s role in integrated promotions.
In 1992, WLS and its nine affiliates merged into the Alpha Group, reinforcing HAVI’s European logistics network. By 1998, HAVI further expanded into marketing services by acquiring The Store Group and merging it with M-B Sales to form The Marketing Store Worldwide.

In 2002, HAVI bought Alpha Management, bringing European logistics under one umbrella. Four years later, key divisions—packaging, promotions management, and supply chain analytics—were combined into HAVI Global Solutions.
During this period, European affiliates rebranded as HAVI Logistics, and by 2010, freight operations united under STI Freight Management, a joint venture with Martin Brower. These steps created a cohesive global identity and streamlined operations.

In 2014, founder Ted Perlman announced the transition of HAVI’s ownership to CEO Russ Smyth and other senior leaders. The deal concluded that same year, ushering in a new era of leadership.
Meanwhile, HAVI retired older brand names—HAVI Global Solutions, HAVI Logistics, and HAVI Supply Chain Solutions—introducing a single brand, HAVI, in 2016. The Marketing Store Worldwide also refreshed its identity, and in 2018, HAVI formed a joint venture with SF Holding to expand cold chain logistics in China.
In 2020, HAVI merged its Sourcing Services with The Marketing Store to form tms, further integrating supply chain and marketing capabilities. The following year, HAVI acquired PMI Worldwide, adding sustainable drinkware to tms and Stanley as its own operating company.
By 2023, Morgan Street Holdings launched as HAVI’s dedicated investment arm, acquiring Continental Services in 2024. In 2025, HAVI Global Services became Morgan Street Holdings, focusing on acquisitions and growth, while HAVI continued to specialize in supply chain services.
